For my Animation 2 class everyone was required to participate in 2 department collabs, a rotoscope and a cut out (I'm still working on the rotoscope but thank god we had the choice of using flash for the cut out)
Anyway, my Professor is a huge George Carlin fan and decided that the cut out project would be based on this particular video as a sort of tribute to him [link] Now I'm not the biggest Carlin fan in the world, but in case you didn't notice, the skit is EXTREMELY word heavy, not the most ideal environment to animate in since everything goes by way too fast for anything to read well, but I enjoyed the project over all and I have to get use to requirements and restrictions since I want to go into the commercial field, but I honestly can't understand how people can animate with tweens on a constant basis like this, it drove me freakin insane This probably took well over 15 solid hours to make, and it wasn't the animation that was so time consuming, but finding those damn stock photos was a real pain in the ass, especially looking for a good shot of Carlin's face, I had to color the picture I used since it was the only decent photo of him facing the camera without a mic blocking his face even though it was originally black and white Here are the stock photo links that I found on DA: [link] [link] [link] [link] Everything else either made by me or found on Yahoo Also this isn't due for another week so any suggestions would be great <3 Enjoy! Wow, not bad, not bad at all! The only nitpick I can give you is when Carlin's legs are sticking out of the computer, you could accent his kicking legs so it's a little eensy bit faster. For a snappy sort of effect, you know? But that could just be my style talking.
Otherwise, looks ready for TV. -- "Video games are bad for you? Thanks! Well, I dunno if I quite agree with the Forbidden Omen's critique. I mean, for me the pacing went along with the speed of Carlin's list, omitting a few things here and there for clarity, there isn't much you can do to help that, I think. As for the standing around, that sorta makes the things happening to him more readable then having him go across the screen. I mean you could, but then it would just look pretty crazy. Dunno if mentioning that not knowing Carlin as part of the score (or even at all) is fair. I mean if it's going to be for your teacher, who knows Carlin, then I'd say you've targeted your audience just fine.
